Lately I've been really interested in TLC.
Anyone who knows me knows that I really like watching Jon and Kate Plus 8, but the network's other programming sort of frightens me. Example being: Sister Wives a new show that will be premiering this Sunday.
If you haven't seen the teasers of the show, it's basically about a man (Kody Brown) who fell in love and got married. Then, he fell in love again and took another wife. Then, he fell in love again and married another woman. Now, in the beginning of this show, he's fallen in love (again) and is considering bringing a new sister wife into the family. (Although, he first has to discuss it with his other wives at the family meeting first. They seem pretty gung-ho about it, actually, saying that he "deserves" a cute girl.)
In case you didn't guess, it's a show about polygamy. Technically, the family wants to "come out of the closet" with their polygamist ways. Despite having three (soon four) wives, the family seems pretty normal...for a family that's featured on TLC. They have thirteen kids, and the wives feel completely happy working together and are open to the fact that he can have sex with any of them. Heck, each wife endorses their mutual sharing of Kody in terms of sex.
Fun fact: Two of their kids (from separate mothers) were born a mere four days apart. Talk about sharing the love!
Seems like an interesting show. Of course, who isn't interested in seeing how a polygamist family works? What I'm curious to see is these women. Kody obviously has no problem marrying woman after woman, but are these women seriously supportive of the fact that he "falls in love" with new women?
"Oh Honey, where are you going tonight?" Asks Wife #2.
"I've gotta hot date!" he replies joyously, grabbing his jacket from the hall closet.
"Go get 'em, tiger!" says the kids.
I'm an only child so I already have problems with sharing. However, don't you wish that if you decide to commit your life to someone that you would truly be your spouse's only partner? Kody may think of it as bringing more happiness and love to his family, but, I'm guessing the other women in his life may feel differently.
This Sunday I'm sure I'll watch and see what this family has to offer to teach me about loving thy home and coveting thy neighbor.
